A Touch of Crafts was one of the first craft stores in the Toronto area to operate under the 'booth rental' format. This application managed individual inventory and sales databases for each of the crafters, tracked monthly invoicing of rentals, and tied all this together into a custom point of sale system. At the end of each month reports were generated for each booth detailing sales, inventory, profit, etc.

  Boat for Sale magazine is the 'Auto Trader' of the marine community with a regular circulation of over 75,000 across Canada. The classified ads database is managed by a custom application integrated with both accounting and telemarketing. Each month the software exports the classified ad database to an automatic script that builds the layout for each section of the magazine in Ventura Publisher and imports the associated images / advertisements. The magazine is then shipped digitally to the publisher where it is printed straight to film. B.F.S. also has a web site based on Microsoft's ASP technology and each month the main database is uploaded for free public access. The magazine is an excellent example of what can be achieved with a very small staff using effective automation tools.
